J.H. Hull Middle School Accused of Allowing Lunchtime Lap Dances, Bullying, and Teacher Misconduct

Christy Andrews is not in good health. Her kidneys are failing, but she will not let that stop her from fighting for her daughter. She is on a mission. She will not back down or be intimidated and she will not stop. On behalf of her daughter, she has reached out to everyone she can think of including U.S. Senator’s, State Legislator’s, the Torrance City Council, the TUSD School Board, and nearly every TUSD Administrator. With her grievances left unaddressed, she has now sought legal representation.

At the beginning of last school year everything was fine. Of her daughter she wrote, “She was an A, B student … all of the teachers spoke very highly of my daughter, how well she was doing, what a great student she was, how she participated and was a joy to have in their class. Then the bullying started in November, my daughter would not go to school, her attendance dropped, her grades started to drop her whole attitude about the school changed.”

She now says her daughter suffers from PTSD, anxiety, and depression due to the emotional distress she experienced at J.H. Hull this past year. Her allegations are serious. In one instance, a boy pushed her daughter and pulled her hair. In another altercation, her daughter was hit in the mouth causing a swollen lip and loose tooth.

Andrews also says that, “There were rumors going around the school that my daughter was sucking D@ck, was a whore, and was sleeping with boys. My daughter would be walking on campus and kids would refer to her as a whore/hoe and the school did nothing to stop it or help her.”

Andrews brought these concerns forward to the administration on numerous occasions, but the bullying did not stop. Frustrated at the lack of action, Andrews at one point wrote, “I will be damned if I lose my daughter due to JH Hull’s lack of acting on the concerns that are brought to them. I will not stand by and allow my child to be bullied!”

“I have talked to them many times but they have allowed my daughter to be bullied and have allowed my daughter to be attacked they have allowed her to be called a whore and they allowed students to say my daughter gives sexual favors. ALL of these things that were/are being said are UNTRUE.”

The bullying was not the only issue. Last May, she wrote to several TUSD administrators and the School Board about lap dances that were occurring on campus during lunch time:

“I am a concerned parent of a student at J.H. HULL that wants to know why [name withheld] (a 6th grader) is allowed to give lap dances to boys at J.H. Hull? Is this a normal practice that is allowed at Torrance middle schools? Your principle NEVER seems to know what is going on at her school, there is no point in talking to her I have tried. Try talking to [name withheld] (a 6th grader) he is one of MANY BOYS [name withheld] gave a lap dance to at lunch and then kissed him. Where are the teachers when this is going on? Where is the supervision? I am highly upset that my child was exposed to this. This just disgusts me that these things are happening on school ground in the common lunch area, it was not hidden it was in the open yet, no adult said anything nor did they stop it”

After multiple e-mails on the subject, including several sent to Superintendent Dr. Mannon, she eventually received a short e-mail from the J.H. Hull principal which stated:

“We have completed an investigation regarding the incident and appropriate consequences have been given to students involved. Thank you for your concern.”

Andrews was never told what consequences, if any, were doled out by the District.

In another troubling account, she claims that one of the teachers complained to her daughter of an “aching urethra.” When her daughter asked what that was, the teacher stated that she would learn about it in health class.

Andrews, who has a background in criminal investigations, claims she was later able to uncover evidence that this teacher had previously been suspended twice for inappropriate conduct and had a DUI on his record. When she brought this information forward, the principal seemed unaware of the prior suspensions. Andrews wanted the incident put in the teacher’s file, but according to Andrews the school did nothing despite the teacher admitting to having made the remark.

Andrews also expressed concern that the principal at J.H. Hull, Patty Girgis, is married to Karim Girgis who is the principal at Torrance High. Karim Girgis was a named defendant in a lawsuit against the District that alleged negligent supervision due to school officials failing to act on repeated tips about the former Torrance High wresting coach who molested dozens of students. That case recently resulted in a $31 Million settlement against the District.

Of that relationship, Andrews wrote:

“Knowing that she is married to this man and that she is the one handling my complaints on a teacher makes me feel very uncomfortable especially since she refuses to take any action or to ease my worries by discussing anything with me. I feel this just got swept under a rug. We are talking about kids and this is her JOB to make sure the kids that attend that school are safe and when a complaint is made to take care of it and to assure the parent and child that it will be handled properly.”

Andrews has similar complaints against the TUSD administration as those alleged in the wrestling coach case.  In another letter to the School Board she summed up her experience by stating:

“J.H. HULL has failed to provide my daughter the right to an education in a safe place. I have reached out numerous times to Torrance School Board along with J.H. Hull head staff to get these issues resolved instead I was met with hostility and resistance or I have been ignored and or passed along from person to person with no resolution … Instead they did not like me pushing back on them so they turned on [my daughter] by bullying her, discriminating against her, intimidating her, picking on her, they singled her out and made life hard at J.H. Hull.

My daughter should and does not have to put up with what she has … having a teacher scream at the top of their lungs at her on a couple occasions, having teachers making inappropriate comments to her with no repercussions, my daughter has been discriminated against, racially profiled, made to feel lesser than, and we are talking about staff members of J.H. Hull head administrators, they have lied about her, they destroyed evidence, they made my child out to be the bad guy, they’re going as far as trying to say my child has a behavioral issue which is a total bunch of crap. My child has the biggest heart, and is the most caring, loving person I know.”

Andrews is raising the alarm not only on behalf of her daughter, but for all students that attend TUSD. Said Andrews, “It is not right for children to go through what my daughter has. I know there are more family’s out there that have been through this and now they will know they are not alone and hopefully come out and share their stories.”

Nothing new here, at least your daughter was bullied by students mine by a teacher and administration had full proof and did nothing. Time to vote all of them out. Principals have NO power on teachers. Learned it the hard way. Get your child tested in 10th grade and out to college much safer environment for her.

    • Christy ANDREWS

I am so sorry you child was treated poorly by teachers ans administration, it is bot ok that this is happing. My daughter was also bullied by head staff and teachers, that is why I am fighting so hard to get it to stop. Children should not have to go threw that at school. School is suppose to be a safe place free of bullying and harassment from peers and administrators it is a place to learn.

Hello, please contact me. My daughter is a current student at Hull. Jmkuzian@pacbell.net
        Thanks

That sucks I used to be a student at J.H. Hull I am actually going to be a sophomore in Torrance High School now I think sometimes it’s the teachers are getting a hard time from the students which makes the mad then they put that on the students that are in their next class but with the teachers not watching the students I agree with you I have never seen any “lap dances” but best of luck on the situation

        • Anon

I was previously a student at Hull and I will be a freshman at Torrance high. Bullying? Sadly, that goes on no matter what. Teachers being open? That’s just showing students real life! Lap dances? Thats bull. That never happened. PDA? Of course, it’s a campus full of teens. I’m sorry if your child got bullied. That sucks. But that does not mean that the entire school is bad. Or just because one teacher did something minor inappropriate, doesn’t mean you have to hate against all the teachers. And I’m sure, because I’m only a child, you will probably ignore this and say “oh, she couldn’t possibly know. Shes just a child wrongly standing up for her school” but I’m standing for facts, what I know. You may know the story your daughter told. If i knew who your daughter was, my perspective may change. But for now I’m just supporting them because I went there for 3 years of my life and I’m so sorry to tell you, but on some of the points you made, you are just flat out wrong. I fully understand doing anything and everything to help your daughter. But that doesnt mean bringing everyone down. You not only brought down the principal, but the school itself, the staff, the students, everybody, even the people who do their best every day to try and make a good community out of hull. By the way, unlike some people, I don’t care if you know who I am! I’m not afraid of standing for what I believe. So if you have anything you think may change my mind, feel free to let me know. Id love to know more about why I should believe ALL of this.
          Thanks, Sierra
Ps if you’re going to judge me, just freaking leave ok I dont need that

          • Anonymous

You don’t need to believe all of it, or even some of it. It should concern you and everyone in the community that any part of it is happening. This lack of empathy and open mindedness is sad and appalling. This kind of turn your head and look the other way culture is how really bad things happen for the entire community. But, you get a pass, because you are a freshman in HS who doesn’t know how the world works yet. Try to keep an open mind, you are not as tough as you think, you do not have all of the answers.

Sierra your reply is the most intelligent comment I have read here. You are a bright young lady!

          • Anonymous

Sierra, You are a great role model and a well adjusted individual. Sometimes what happens to the adults like Ms. Andrews needs more time and attention. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I hope all students have experiences and resilient mindsets like you.

          • Anonymous

This is just addressing part of your comment.

I completely disagree with the girl who will be a freshman in Torrance high, this is because after reading this article I completely agree with nearly all of it. There is a LOT of bully that happens at JH hull middle school and NONE of it is taken care of by the principal (mrs. Girgis) NOR the assistant principal (mrs. leach). this is a big problem because many kids have depression that is caused but PTSD from things that happen in their home life and kids adding even the smallest negative comments could push them into an anxiety attack, or could push their depression over the edge causing them to make bad decisions and by you saying that none of this happens at JH hull (witch is incorrect) can make them feel like what they are feeling is invalid. This can another kid who it is happening to feel like they should not come forward and say anything because they think no one will believe them.

          • Alicia

What happened at that school is an outrange, and the administrators should be held 100% accountable for refusing to handle this serious situation against an innocent student. It’s office staff like the incompetent principal at Hull Middle School that give the entire district a bad rep. If they’re allowed to get away with something like this, they will try to get away with anything. People who bully and mistreat students, parents, and other staff members shouldn’t be qualified to be anywhere NEAR schools. They’re better off working in the kitchen at Burger King flipping burgers and washing dishes (At least then, paying costumers won’t have to put up with their bs). So how dare you defend the terrible and lazy staff members who pretty much RUINED the district. The parent of this child has a right to not only file a complaint, but even SUE the entire district and take them to court.

My son was bullied repeatedly. He reported it to Mrs Leach and with Mrs. Girgis which only made matters worse. I requested a meeting with Mrs. Girgis she did her best to blow me off and get out of meeting with me. What was the final straw for me were the lies and back peddling from Leach and Girgis. I have had children in the school district since 1995 my older sons all graduated from North and let me tell you I have never witnessed so much negligent being accepted in a Torrance school. I transferred my to another middle school in the district best choice EVER! My son is back to him old self happy and excelling!!!

      Best Wishes to you all

      • Amy Lee

Yes! both Mrs Leach and Girgis are horrible people who are incapable of doing their jobs. Why haven’t they been fired by now is beyond me. Its all about favoritism and abuse of power. They will defend certain people while targeting anyone they either dislike or just straight up don’t know or care about.

The TUSD is totally corrupt and immoral. Get out of the public school system, now!

    • Alicia

It’s not the schools that are corrupt, its the idiots who are managing it. Worst administration I’ve ever seen.

  • Anonymous

TUSD doesn’t protect the children at all. When a coaches husbnd was arrested for sexual misconduct with a minor, TUSD did nothing and allows the coach to keep coaching. Watch your kids!

    • Anonymous

Just now my daughter has told me that a girl was sending pictures of her body to her teacher. The school is not safe. Another example is that in the school got threatened for a school shooting but the staff didn’t tell the parents and just when on with the day like nothing.

    • Alicia

I also think it’s a race thing. I believe TUSD favors and protects the white and Asian community while targeting the Hispanic, black, and Muslim (South Asian) folks.

  • Anonymous

Just wondering if the victim and her mother ever reported any of this to the Torrance Police Department, City Attorney or District Attorney.

I am a former hull student, last year while i was in 8th grade ,ms ward told our class about her drug use such as heroin, lsd,and pot she also said shed denie what she said to anyone out of the class room , and if ur wondering how this got brought up its because a student found a rolling paper for a joint in a coffee mug in her room, the security guard at hull has been hitting students vapes and wax pens ,(wax pens are a form of weed) the principle is also a rasist if your not from asain or black decent theyll never have your back

  • Anonymous

I was a recent student at jh.hull and I just wanted to let everyone know the I have seen Mr Brown touching girls in his office, bullying several students, and blatantly talking about his sex life.
Another teacher named Mrs ward was talking about snorting heroin and using lsd

    • Anonymous

Thx for backing me butter ms ward and mr brown are horrible teachers, almost every teacher at hull is corrupt, the only good teacher there is Laura pace she actully cares for her student’s

      • Anonymous

Mr. Brown is a great teacher. He would do no such thing as touch girls in his office or talk openly about his sex life. First of all, He Has A Girlfriend!!! Why on Earth would he would touch girls in his office?!? Mr. Brown is a good man and a great teacher. The whole year all he wanted from me is that I improve my mistakes, try my best, and have a good attitude. You may think Mr. Brown was bullying kids but do you even know the definition of the word you wrote? Not once did he use his strength or power to harm or intimidate those who are weaker than him. He may have jokingly roasted some students yes. But not once have I seen or heard from those kids that they were scared of him or intimidated by him. The person 2 comments up from mine is probably just some kid who is still salty about Mr Brown roasting on him. Mr. Brown is without a doubt one of the best teachers at Hull. -clarinet who plays baseball

        • Anonymous

Ew clarinet player more like percussion 😏

        • Anonymous

Replying to the “clarinet who plays baseball”, the claims that you made toward Mr. Brown are subjective to your personal opinions of him, and it feels like you’re not taking the seriousness of his accusations into consideration. According to the comment, he was seen “touching girls in his office”. Since this took place in a middle school environment, I’m assuming that the girls were underage. By you saying that he wouldn’t do this because he has a girlfriend cannot be farther from the truth. As a former J.H. Hull student, and a current Torrance High School student, the devastating/disturbing truth surrounding the previous wrestling coach (Mr. Snider) is a topic that is spoken about to use as an example of how easily a detrimental act like molestaion can be hidden for so many years. My point for bringing his story up is to disprove your point. The wrestling coach has well-enough portrayed that a relationship won’t stop some people in participating in extreme acts. (Disclaimer: I am not replying to accuse Mr. Brown of doing anything because I cannot speak for the witness).

      • Anonymous

Honestly, most people that are hating on all these teachers are probally butt hurt about a situation involving these teachers. Mr Brown is not a bad teacher, yes he is a out going person. Very chill and not what you would expect of your normal teacher. The only problem is that he favors other students more. But, he’s young and I’m sure he is going to grow out of that habit. Not trying to lie, the band was bad but he supported all of us even if we sound like trash. The guy took beginning, advanced band and choir to Disneyland and y’all are really gonna finness him like that. When I came to JH Hull I tought it was going to be some basic school like always but damn, out of all my 3 years I’ve had fun. Fuck Mrs.Leach tho

        • Anon

Honestly with all of this shit, like Mr Brown was an amazing teacher. He is very open and that’s how teachers should be. They’re there to teach you. Not to repeat lessons only! You have to learn what the outside world is like no matter whether you like it or not. Mr Brown always jokes about stuff, so if you’re easily butt hurt that’s your fault NOT his

As a former 8th grade student who is now heading to Torrance High School, this doesn’t really surprise me, as I knew what was going to happen.

J.H. Hull Middle School was honestly a pain to go through, seeing the horrible students and some awful teachers. My recent History teacher once threw a tantrum and kicked his metal desk and slammed his cabinet, even going far to an extent where he tips over the fan that hits a student nearby. Keeping mentality is something the teachers must have there. Some teachers break the rules for their students’ entertainment, such as using phones, using vulgar language, and talking about inappropiate topics.

The security MUST improve. I have been struck by many french fries at the lunch benches and the perpetrator never gets caught. Let’s try hiring more security and healthy ones that are able to catch troublemakers, correct? The substitutes could also use some work. At least test how the substitutes would act in class situations before they even start to substitute a classroom.

I’ve had lots of good experiences at good J.H. Hull, although. Most of the teachers were amazing and made my day. Some were very enthusiastic and entertaining, others were geniuses and funny. The school will remain neutral for my mindset, but it could be a good school if you improve on even the slightest problems.

    • Anon

Okay, so I totally get wanting to improve security and SOME teachers aren’t great. But why would you make such a big deal of French fries. ITS A CAMPUS FULL OF TEENS WHO ACT LIKE THEYRE 5 with a few “perfect” students. What do you expect out of a middle school!?!? I’m also going to ths from Hull, so I know.

  • Anonymous

None of this is big news, the kids here are so trashy and the teachers do not care about us at all, almost every girl jas been slut shamed at least once

    • Anon

True all the girls have been slut shamed. Some were because they moved around many guys. But 98% of the time it’s joking!! And middle school students can’t help themselves. We’re only teens and it’s just life. Sorry to say

      • Clint Paulson

Ugh, no I don’t think that is just life. It’s not okay to slut shame other girls even in jest. Being a teen is no excuse.

  • Anonymous

This is finally getting talked about and I’m really glad, a lot of things that are being talked about now have been reported to the school and nothing has happened. There was an incident last year of sexual harassment and all they did was have the girl go to counselor and talk about it. It did not stop and I had to talk to the office about it several times and they never gave her a suspension or anything like that. They were alright with letting things happen and there definitely have been too many things going on and I’m glad that now something is being done about it. Even though I’m not there anymore I don’t want anyone else to go through this and it needs to be stopped.

I would never lie about this? And I’ve told people before and nobody took me serious so why should they now? It’s in the past. Nothing was done and there isn’t much that can be done now. Shame on you for thinking I would lie about something like this. If you r e a l l y want me to come forward and say who I am and explain then you would say it rather than just assuming that I’m lying. Doesn’t really make me want to explain anything else and I don’ think I will make a formal complaint now.

        • I’m very sorry this happened to you. I have no reason to doubt you and was making no assumptions. I appreciate you sharing your experience in this forum. These are very serious matters. Nobody should be bullied or sexually harassed while at school. I only repeated a comment I made to others in this thread who have made complaints because I wanted to ensure everyone is aware that there are people that will help them make formal complaints if they choose to go that route. My best to you as you move forward.

  • anonoymus

i’m so lost…. i went to hull for 1 year and nun of this every happened to me… now i’m not saying it didn’t happen because it didn’t happen to me but i am gonna say that kids do stupid stuff and make up things so let’s not right away throw teachers under the bus and call them names with no full story

    • Anonymous

Mosy teachers at this school are very good but there are a few that need to be out. Mr. Melo for example. He is by far the worst teacher at J.H. Hull. I had him 2nd period last year and I am not going to give my name due to possible reprucussions on my permit but if you know me you will know its me writing this. In his 2nd period he kicked me out of his class multiple times screaming at me over on one occasion him telling me to move seats to another spot and I asked for a specific location. He also has yelled things about me that were private between my parents and him about me needing help due to me being possibly kicked out of the district because I am on a permit and my grades weren’t the best. He yelled to me “Get the hell out of my class…and have fun at Narbonne” which is the school I have to go to when my permit gets taken. Overall he is very improffesional and childish. He has talked about topics sex ed teachers wouldnt even talk about. And I remind you he is a history teacher. He one day went on a rant telling us how all the stds were contracted and what they do to you. He has talked about woman castration for no reason at all and he frequently takes sick days and when he comes back he told us how he just wanted a day off. Whenever he did that, he would assign a random lesson to the sub so we didnt learn anything. He overall cant control a class and he called security nearly everyday. Another bad teacher is Mrs. McCarthy. I didnt have her but my cousin did and she was a good techer learning wise but a horrible person who inflated her ego by putting down others. My cousin has ADHD and my aunt called her asking if he could have an extra day to turn in his work and the next day he needed something and she said “Oh are you gonna have your mommy call me again” she has also made comments on a now 10th graders hair calling it “disgusting” and telling him to comb it to the point of him crying. Mrs. Ward also is bad and unorganized. I didnt have her when she made the drug comments but I can insure that everyone in her class agreed she said that. Most other teachers are ok. I have had a terrible expirience with the principal though. She has done nothing for me or the school and sweeps things under the rug that could hurt her in any way like reports of teachers like Mr. Melo. Security in that school is also a joke. Mr. Horn just stands around talking most of the time and 99% of the time it’s teachers that break up fights. What if a student brought a weapon to school? Mr. Horn is so out of shape he wouldnt be able to do anything about it. Overall the school is not a good expirience or environment for kids. Everyone has their opinions which is why I didnt say how someone was mean to me because they couldve been nice to everyone else. There were a lot of great teachers though, like Mr. Larash, Mr. Nelson, Mr. Cho are a few that come to mind.

      • Anonymous

I can agree with Mr. Melo. He isn’t a good teacher at all. He never taught us anything, he doesn’t know how to teach, and he isn’t a good person in general. He always cusses in class saying “fuck” or “shit”. He makes people feel bad about themselves also. He once told a student about how they aren’t gonna get anything done in their life. He constantly forgets things. Sometimes in class then we didn’t do anything because he wouldn’t understand how to do a lesson. Other times he would give us a lot of hw and the forget about it the next day. He often says that he gives up on our class even though he’s the one that isn’t exposing it right. He also believes that we are all like him and that we should all act the same. He had an Instagram i saw and in his bio he put the word “weed”. He is sometimes racist sometimes talking about some cultures wrong. He sometimes gets to personal and would ask very personal/ weird questions to ask a student. He overall shouldn’t be teaching and talks about how he doesn’t like kids. He should be fired and I know a lot of people that would agree with me.

  • Jane Doe

Geez my daughter has to go there next year. I already have issues with the counselor. I hate to say it but John Adams Elementary isn’t any better. Bullying is crazy there. Kids cutting hair on the play ground kids getting kicked in the face during assembly. The principal doesn’t do anything about it there either.

    • Amy Lee

Haven’t had any problems with Adams, but Edison Elementary is just as bad. The secretary is rude and inconsiderate. She got a staff member written up for something she didn’t do. When the staff member called the office, the secretary answered the phone and rudely dismissed everything she was saying with a childish and unprofessional attitude. The principal, Jane ( forgot her last name) wasn’t any better. She picks and chooses who to believe and take sides with and refuses to look into the full stories of situation.

Um just saying the PTSD, anxiety and depression comes from the school itself, as in the expectations and pressure from your family to do well.

Eight grade students on this article are and (most) should be spreading the word about what has happened at this school and honestly we are doing a service. We could just not do anything and let this blow over and have the school get away with things still. Wouldn’t you like to have a public place to come forward about things that happened to you? People are coming forward for a reason and even though we left we do not want this to happen to anyone else. We want people to be aware of what has happened to us here. People should know about what happened to eight graders and high school students who went there as well. It’s not just the people remaining there that matter. We want something done about it too. Most of us are being real and it isn’t fair to us that you are willing to say get real when you most likely didn’t have to go through anything like we have.

Also promoting politics on an article that isn’t about that at all? Get real.

      • Clint Paulson

I am glad this forum has provided a venue where students can speak out. I sincerely hope the voices of these students are heard and that it leads to positive change for the school. I know I will be providing these comments to the TUSD School Board and the administration in the hopes they will take action.

  • Anonymous

I am an eight grader at hull and I wanted to say that I am sorry your daughter was being bullied, that is something out of my power I can not control, but some of what you claim is absolutely ludicrous! Lap dances? Are you serious? There is security all over campus during school hours so I highly doubt this occurred. While yes, some teachers have bad ways of treating students, most of them are good hearted and have good intentions. I read a comment claiming Mr Brown would go as far as bullying and touching girls, and I wanted to say that is 100% not true. As one of his closest students for 2 years now, I can say that he would never touch a girl in an uncomfortable way or go and purposely bully a student. If he ever was to do any of that, it would be meant as a joke. I can not believe some of the things people are saying here!

I’m not saying Mrs. McCarthy should be fired from her job or anything. But the tea is that her class was the most stressful yet. I have anxiety and I cried during a group effort project. The first time I presented, she comforted me the best she could do. The second time I cried in class, she said I’m being selfish and i should think of the others in my group. Once, i forgot to do one side of the homework and said in front of the class that I was disappointing. Her homework was easy, but her group projects were super stressful. The stress didn’t just make me cry (okay this isn’t just because of hw, and trigger warning btw) i started inflicting self-harm. Again, it’s not mostly because of her. I’m a really sensitive person, and my family’s not very, nice.
I will say she’s a fun person out of the class room, if you’re not a ‘bad’ kid, or someone she dislikes. Plus, practicing for history day was really fun with her. The day of history day, she becomes really really strict with Alchemy and others. So, watch out for that.

I don’t think she should be fired or anything, i just think maybe just tone it down a bit. If you need to be serious or tell a kid that they’re not doing so well. Just give them 3 warning, talk to them privately, or ask them calmly. I do think she’s a good teacher, i just think she shouldn’t say harsh things because it may impact the class. Like telling them that they’re the worst/talkative period out of all of them. Because it may make some of the students, like me, to overthink things.
    No shade.

Other teacher, Mr. Acres. Okay, so my friend was joking around and asked if they could have a piece, a piece, of his doughnut. And he asked them to take a bite, a BITE, they asked if they could just take a piece off. And he insisted on them to take a bite. In the end, they got the whole doughnut. But I just found it strange.

It broke my heart to read this comment. Please don’t inflict self-harm anymore. There are people that will support you. I am certain of it. If you are having trouble finding someone to help please reach out to me at clint.paulson@gmail.com and I will try and help you get the support and help you need. Inflicting self harm is not okay.

I’m actually in shock that Mr. Melo is still a teacher at JH Hull. I graduated from hull back in 2008 and he was very distraught and short tempered back then, I can’t even imagine how he is now. Is there any form of teacher evaluation going on? Surely there are better replacements. TUSD needs to do better.

All I’ve seen are dogs giving lap dances online. It’s hilarious. And then i see (name censored) and (name censored) making out in front of Mr. Brown’s classroom in the amphitheater. Personally, idek what lap dances are, that’s just the title.

I had no idea about this I I don’t think it is true. See I am still at jh hull and nobody got hit in the face, I have never seen anybody Lapdance there and there has seriously only been one fight this year. The fight never even really started since the teachers got there right away. Also I’m pretty sure if she was called those words I might have even started a fight. Honestly its the student’s. They keep everything secret. The teachers don’t know anything until they see big groups together. They break it up. They try to find out. The teachers at jh hull care its just they don’t know anything.

As a parent who read students comments, I noticed that there are lapses in the administration side. The administration needs to listen to their community. There should be a better consequence for students who misbehave so teachers can teach and students can learn. The comments posted of the previous students shows frustration of how the school was being managed and concerns being mishandled. My concerns were there are some teachers who can’t justify grades. If they caught red handed they will just say it was a mistake and they will correct it. What about those parents who doesn’t check the school websites. These students will be receiving a grade they don’t deserve. I asked a teacher on how he can help my child improve his grade. His response was an insult that he will have my child read the paper of his peers who received an “A”. That is not the response I expected. I expect the teacher to give me some suggestion instead of comparing my child to another student. No two individuals are alike. They don’t have additional supporting material or technology to help struggling students. Their enrichment is a waste of time and money because the teacher in-charge was not teaching but instead let the students do their homework from different classes. They can be sued for not using the adopted textbook because he believes that his chosen novel was better than the textbook. I don’t care what you believe. A collective vote was made to purchased those textbooks. Don’t waste our money, he could have use it to support my child’s education instead of those books collecting dust in his cabinet . He violated the “Williams Settlement Law”
Next, I am disappointed on how the graduation was done. Where in the Middle or High School can you find that the awarding ceremony for those who were recognized having good grades or being in the honor roll was celebrated on a separate day. Our child spent three years of his life sleeping late at night doing homework and classwork and yet their graduation has no substance at all. They came in, received their diploma and left Torrance High. They spent longer standing outside waiting for the ceremony to start than the ceremony itself. They don’t need to be in Torrance High for that event. They could have done it in their quad in one single celebration together with the awarding ceremony. The point I’m making is we don’t need to rush . This is a special occasion we are waiting as parents. I heard some sentiments around me that some parents were not happy on how the program was being conducted. Mine are just suggestion and I don’t want to attack teachers or the head but maybe they can do better next time. Mrs. Girgis is not bad either she just need to improve some of her goals and plan it out good.
There might be some bad apples in the campus and the District need to look into it and move some teachers around. As to some students who talk about Ms. McCarthy, as a teacher I rated her as a good teacher. She might be strict but that will help you (student) to face college work someday. She just need to cut down giving so much homework. As to Mr. Melo my child thinks his class was fun and not boring. Mr. Ambro needs to refrain talking politics in class. If they are in a bad mood we need to understand that they are just human. They might be undergoing some difficult situation in life. I applaud Ms. Kang, Ms. Lee,Ms. Fazis and most of all Mrs. Penny ( too bad she left) These teachers are very supportive . In closing, teachers need to improve their attitude towards students and parents. students if your teacher is in a bad mood, you need to behave and understand that some of them might be facing some difficult situation. They are actors putting a smile on their faces to make your learning fun.
Those who are In charge of the Front desk need to be competent and welcoming. I agree that they need to add another Security personnel. Most of all ,Teachers don’t be defensive!!!You know who am I talking about. Remember we are your clientele. I will be watching to those teachers accused by students of sexual harassment and I hope that it is not true because I don’t want my child to be assigned to those teachers.

Parents need to stop blaming teachers and do their job at home. If you do not like the school, you can always pull your child out and find other options like private schools.

how about you keep you stupid comments to your self you should not be allowed to to have a child less alone a gold fish stop speaking on something if you are uninformed

The administrators need to do their jobs as well. It’s their job to protect the teacher who are actually trying to do their job and be there for the kids. It is also their job to protect the students and their safety. Dismissing concerns and wrongfully accusing people of things is never ok. If principals and the District office can’t do their jobs, they shouldn’t be working there. They can go get a job at Food 4 Less bagging groceries and stocking items on shelves.

My kid goes there, 6th grader. We started the school year worried about bullying and all this lap dance crazy talk but I have to say I LOVE Hull. The staff is awesome, the teachers are great and responsive. No problems whatsoever.

Everyone says “tHiS dIdNt hApPen” are wrong. This did happen. I was present for half of the stuff here and it really is awful. I was such a happy person before I came to Hull. This doesn’t happen anymore but these certain kids would call me “emo” or “depressed” for doing literally nothing. It’s an awful school and I wish more was done about this. Just because you never heard about it did not mean it didn’t happen. It did. I personally me we heard about the sl*t shaming but I wouldn’t be surprised

I agree with all the talks about the teachers. My son was in 7th grade and a teacher by the name of Summer Koepp did not like him because of his race and therefore did not grade a project which was very important. My son went up to her and asked about it and she said that she will look into it. The last day of school comes my son asks her and she says i have it and will grade it. Schools over and my son checks and sees he has a 0 out of 50 on the project. He explains it to me and i tell him to calmly email the teacher. Guess what no response and his grade suffers because of it. He had straight a’s all year except this time where he got 1 C. Honestly unbelievable.

It seems Mr. and Mrs. Girgis have a lot of problems.
My son on an inter-district permit was put on a 504 program for ADD/ADHD students before the COVID SHUTDOWN.
During the home school fiasco his grades declined. Mrs. Girgis warned of a permit revoke. Still his grades declined. As a full time single parent unable to stay home and supervise. Mrs. Girgis pulled his permit days before school restarted. He was out of school for six months until i found out TSD had been sued for this before. I filed a complaint with the School Board Office of civil rights. Mrs. Girgis was not allowed to revoke his permit. The staff was ordered to take training and my son was put back in school. Mrs. Girgis was reassigned to another school. Now my son attends Torrance High the principle is Mr. Girgis. Two months ago an anonymous report was made with unsubstanciated remarks my son was going to shoot up the school. The police came and took him and placed him in a mental hospital for four days. The doctor said he saw no indications on what was reported. Who do you think was responsible that this report was made before any school investigation of these aligations. Mr. Girgis

I am a 8th grade at JH hull. The lap dance rumor is NOT true that stuff does not happen on campus. We have a lot of staff and security supervising the campus for PDA. You get in trouble for hugging your friend I haven’t seen anybody getting a lap dance on campus.
